FCC Pulls Back In Light Of Trump Election

  • Post category:Blog

The FCC recently removed a number of controversial, big ticket items from the agenda for its November 17th open meeting, in apparent acknowledgment that a Trump administration is likely to have a far different regulatory view. Chairman Tom Wheeler’s reign of terror is obviously coming to an end.

Wheeler, during his tenure, supported and enacted some of the most divisive and damaging  telecommunications policies for the nation in general, and ILECs in particular. Many analysts expect Congress to try to reverse controversial FCC regulations on net neutrality, privacy and other issues. How a Republican controlled FCC might deal with the more specific – and generally less understood – ILEC issues is unclear.

What is clear, however, is that a Trump administration will bring major changes to the federal government, and Washington DC’s political and regulatory culture.
