NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, together with the Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) has sent a letter to the NTIA with a number of suggestions for improving its Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Program.
The associations pushed for all-fiber projects to be given the absolutely highest priority, and that unserved locations to be funded before underserved areas. Further, they called for giving preference to applicants committing to high penetration rates.
Other suggestions included the establishment of a fair process and objective standards for any proposed project, and that NTIA select competent providers and projects with proven track records.
Once again NTCA has offered very cogent and important ideas to a government agency concerning broadband funding policies and procedures.
Let’s hope the NTIA is paying attention.
